Makerbot: Desktop 3D Printer
The hacker collective NYC Resistor has created an inexpensive desktop 3D printer. It layers strands of plastic, so the final render is not completely smooth, but still a way cool hacktastic invention. Check out the process. Rumor on the web is they've got a 3D Scanner in the works, as well.
