My Top Band This Month: Tame Impala
Tame antelope, eh? Funny name, incredible tracks. I've listened to this album on repeat over the past couple days. Makes walking around the city feel like an adventure. Kicks some speed into my pace and optimism into my head. Great combination.
Psychadelic dreamy rock sound held together by classic rock drum beats. I'd put them on a bill with Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and expect them to blow up in a similar fashion- it's just a matter of time before we hear this Australian quartet over the speaker system at Urban Outfitters.
Listen to the whole Tame Impala album on NPR First Listen.
Track: Be Above It
Track: Apocalypse Dreams

Manjari Sharma Photography
One of the models from a my recent photo shoot for HEEB Magazine messaged me a link to these beautiful images created by Manjari Sharma Photography. The project for HEEB portrays NY-based mutimedia meditation guru Harry Einhorn at the center of a thangka painting, surrounded by a smattering of colorful deities, fierce in full body paint.
Manjari Sharma Photography provided stellar inspiration for post production. The images they produced for their Darshan project are vibrant eye candy, and although they feature real subjects, there is a surreal storybook-like quality to the finished portraits.

Universal Protest Dance Party Music - Balkan Beat Box
Balkan Beat Box gave one of the greatest free performances I've ever jumped to last night at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. I was a casual listener, familiar with more nostalgic tunes such as Dancing with the Moon, now I'm a full fledged fan enamored with their newly discovered Punk Ska Mediterranean infused dance medleys. Check it!

Feirce! "Settle Down" by Kimbra
Catchy jingle delivered with punchy moves, sobering lyrics, and a lotta soul. Specially memorable moment of eerieness when the little girls cross over from the video's story into Kimbra's set. Who doesn't love a broken rule?

The Suburbs :: Arcade Fire
Stellar video. The acting is great, love the swimming cinematography while the couple is having a moment in the tunnel. Apparently there's an entire video series...
The full short film 'Scenes From The Suburbs' https://vimeo.com/31163633 Director: Spike Jonze.
Nancy Sinatra's sound?
eerie. "if you are born to be free you are born to be free. / so gather your vicious friends and come and service me."

Walter Steding: Secret Spy.
Walter Steding is a violinist who was a big part of TV Party's house band. TV Party was a television show on New York Public Access Television in the 80's. Steding was described by Debbie Harry as having "his own sense of rythm." Although frequently resulting in cacophony, it works out quite nicely in this tune.
Screamin' Jay Hawkins: I put a spell on you.
This is amazing. We need more screamers in this day and age.
